Figuring out what to wear in a holiday card photo can be an overwhelming task. In my personal opinion the simpler the better. While I take photos for a living, my boyfriend does not. So his patience for a long drawn out photo shoot is very low, as I’m sure is the case with your loved ones…especially if you have little kids! I wanted us to both be comfortable and for our Christmas card outfits to coordinate, but not be too matchy matchy. I kept our color pallete fairly neutral aside from the pop of plaid under Christian’s sweater, which tied in well with the Christmas tree background. The end result is a fun and festive photo where we both look happy and relaxed. What more could a girl ask for?
3 Tips for Getting Your Best Christmas Card Photo
1. Pick a photographer you are comfortable with. If you aren’t used to being in front of the camera, this is key! The more at ease the photographer makes you the better the photos will turn out.
2. Plan your outfits ahead of time and snap a photo with your iPhone to make sure you like how they look on camera. Sometimes something can look great in person and not so much on camera. For example certain jackets or sweaters can make you look little too bulky.
3. Scout out a location before hand so that you aren’t scrambling in the moment. Christian only has about a 20 minute window before he gets grouchy taking photos, so I try to have as much finalized as possible before we start shooting.
