Where to Stay
W Hotel Washington D.C.
I can’t stress enough how conveniently located the W Hotel is. It’s just blocks away from the White House and some of the best restaurants in town. Not to mention home to the amazing Bliss Spa and POV rooftop bar that has one of the be aerial views of DC!
The Ritz Carlton Georgetown
Yes, I’m already planning my next trip to Washington D. C., and have my sights set on Georgetown. The Ritz is in the center of all the shopping and restaurants a girl could hope for.
What to See
As this was my first trip to Washington D. C., I obviously wanted to see as many Monuments as possible! We ended up booking a sprinter van to drive us around the majority of the trip, and that was the BEST decision ever. We were able to maximize our time and had a safe place to leave valuables while we walked around the sites.
The White House
Since we were only there for the weekend, we decided not to tour the White House in favor of seeing more sites. However, I definitely want to book a tour before my next visit. Word to the wise plan ahead as the tours are first come first serve, and can have around a 3 month waiting list.
Lincoln Memorial
Definitely a classic and very popular monument – if you are wanting a clear shot, I’d recommend going as early as possible.
Jefferson Memorial
This was my FAVORITE monument photo spot. So picturequese and not nearly as crowded as the Lincoln memorial. We wound up getting such a great shot of the group here.
Arlington Cemetery // Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
If you go to Arlington make sure budget time to watch the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Guard is changed every thirty minutes during the summer (April 1 to Sep 30) and every hour during the winter (Oct 1 to Mar 31).

Where to Eat
Cafe Milano
This old school italian D.C. staple is a must visit, especially if you love truffle past and want to try and spot famous politicians!
Old Ebbitt Grill
This is Washington’s oldest bar and restuarant. The decor is gorgeous and they even still use gas lamps! Make sure to make a reservation in advance AND order the poutine.
The Hamilton
Get the Ricotta Donuts for desert. Thank me later.
Fig and Olive
A great brunch spot, and located near some great shopping. Make sure to get the croistinis and mushroom croquettes.
Farmers Fishers Bakers
Their weekend Brunch is buffet style and definitely worth the wait. If you come in the Spring or Summer make sure to sit on the patio for a great view of the water!
