With festival season right around the corner, I wanted to share a little sxsw & coachella vibe inspiration today. For music festivals it’s easy to get a little carried away when picking outfits. A flower crown sounds like a good idea in the morning, but somewhere around hour 6 when the flowers have wilted and I have massive headache from all the bobby pins poking into my skull…it dawns on me that a simple braid crown could have been just as cute. It really boils down to three guidelines that I’ve developed over the years that help keep the balance between practical and fairy wood nymph.
THREE RULES FOR FESTIVAL STYLE
- Wear closed toed shoes. I love gladiator sandals just as much as the next girl, but music festivals are typically held in fields…which are dusty…sometimes muddy…you see where I’m going with this. Personally I think you can’t go wrong with a cute pair of fringed booties.
- Bring sunblock and drink water! You will never forgive yourself if you turn into a dehydrated lobster day one and have to miss out on the rest of the fun hooked up to an IV slathered in aloe vera (however if you do get burned this after sun care lotion is amazing).
- Imagine yourself playing twister in the outfit you want to wear…if anything is at risk of falling out, you may want to rethink things. You want to be able to sit on the grass, jump, dance, etc. without incident. Spending the whole day pulling anything down or up is just going to kill your vibe. This palm dress is perfect – it’s cute, it’s comfortable, and it’s only $12 dollars so if it gets ruined by the end of the day – no harm, no fowl!
