I’ve always had a love of vintage clothing and accessories. I remember in high school I was always combing through thrift stores and estate sales for hidden treasures. I was completely hooked on the thrill of the hunt. There is no better feeling than finding a great deal in the midst of someone’s moth eaten sweaters and old thigh masters. So when my mom recruited to me to help her clean out my Gigi’s town house a few weeks ago, I knew I needed to keep my eyes peeled. My Gigi is a bit of a pack rat, so there was a lot to sort through but I found some real gems including this fruit print scarf. Even though its probably over 50 years old – it literally looks like something you could pick up at J.Crew. It has a real summer in positano vibe to it.
When I went to Paris in March, one of the the biggest trends I noticed was tying scarves on bags. So when I found this one at Gigi’s, I knew exactly where it belonged: looped around the handle of my favorite straw bag. Not only did it add a pop of color and flare to an otherwise non-descript bag, I now think of my Gigi every time I wear it.
