As I mentioned in my Desk Reveal post, I recently had some sort of stroke (…of genius ?) or something and decided to move my bedroom into my living room so that I could convert it into my home office. It’s been a couple weeks since I wrote that post and about a month and half since I made the change, and I am more convinced than ever that it was absolutely the right move. My biggest concern was making my bed area feel like a separate space, even though its sharing a room with my kitchen and couch/sitting area. Luckily the layout of my apartment is pretty conducive to this, so I don’t feel like I’m sleeping next to my refrigerator haha.
I wanted to keep my bedroom light and airy, taking advantage of all the natural light I have. I’m proud to say that everything in this space I bought for under $250 – even my headboard (found two years ago on major sale at Kohls thank you very much). When I started decorating my place I was convinced that I was never going to be able to do it the way I wanted to on a budget, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. It just takes time patience, and sale alert emails from West Elm and CB2 and you can still have the perfect pinterest decor of your dreams.
If you know me well, then you know that my magazine collection was once quite extensive. Once I made the move to Miami, I had to make some deep cuts but obviously I had to hang onto this Vogue Sienna Miller cover. It’s the September Issue from the September Issue, which I love. I can’t believe that was almost 10 years ago! Time flies. PS. this is one of the best smelling candle on the planet – and the gold jar is tres chic to boot.
The millennial pink obsession is alive and well in my house, so naturally I had to add a few touches here and there like this pink tufted bench.
One of the hardest pieces to find under $250 was this standing mirror. I honestly drug Christian to HomeGoods ever other week for months just hoping to find an inexpensive mirror like this. But alas none of them were ever quite right, although I did find several other pieces along the way like my metal side table. So when I found this mirror from CB2 for $199 and then got a promo code I knew I had to pull the trigger. If you follow me on instagram you already know its the perfect selfie mirror for OOTDs 🙂
I like to keep a rotating stack of coffee table books on a little black tray on my pink pink bench, under the mirrored lamp, & on the side table – it’s such an easy way to mix things up without really having to buy anything new.
I found Minted.com years ago through Pinterest, so when it came time to pick art for my apartment it was kind of a no brainer where I would get it. I’d been eyeing these gold leaf map prints (I have Dallas & Miami) for a while, and I like the idea of mixing my Texas roots with the beach. I’d love to say that I taped this whole area off and measured to make sure I got it just right, but honestly I just eyeballed it, put up some command strips and hoped for the best. I eventually want to hang more pieces, but I want it to evolve naturally and not just buy stuff because I need to fill the space.
