Buying a designer bag, while exciting and fun, can also be extremely nerve wracking. Anytime you invest a lot of money into a purchase, the fear of buyers remorse is always in the back of your mind. Which is why I decided to start posting reviews of my designer purchases – so that if y’all ever decide to take the plunge you’ll have a resource to refer to.

Cons:
Too small to work as a carry-on for me.
Straps too short to rest comfortably on my shoulder.
No Zipper made me feel like my belongings were less secure during travel.
I remember the first time I saw a Goyard Saint-Louis Tote. It was freshman year of high school, and a particularly chic classmate of mine was using it as her book bag. I was immediately drawn to the classic shape and hand painted leather. It just looked cool. And so the obsession began. Obtaining an authentic Goyard bag is no easy feat (especially back then). Their online presence is minimal and they are typically only sold in their own flagship boutiques with the exception of few Barney’s locations (you can find some more affordable resale options here). So I put my love of the Saint-Louis Tote on the back burner for more accessible designer bag pursuits (like this and this).
Then when I moved to Miami and realized that there was a Goyard boutique mere minutes away, the obsession kicked back up into high gear. So now I had the access to purchase my dream bag, but I was still overwhelmed when it came to the exact details of which one I wanted.
Did I want the PM or GM? What color? Should I get it Monogrammed?
These were all questions I was not prepared to answer. So I decided to rent one on bag borrow or steal for a month and see what I thought. A little try before you buy if you will. And I am so glad I did. I found that while I loved the overall look and style that I definitely would prefer the GM size. Not only do you have more room, but the straps are also longer and fit more comfortably on your shoulder. Additionally I realized that since I planned to use my tote mainly as a carry on during my travels that the Goyardine Artoise option that comes with a zipper would be much better suited for me. Christian got the bag for me last Christmas and I could not be happier! I’ll be sure to post a separate review for it soon.
