How to Get the Most Out of Your GlamSquad Appointment
Back in September, I teamed up with GlamSquad for my fashion week hair and makeup looks. Having the team come to my hotel room each morning was such a lifesaver and just gave me the extra confidence I needed for all my meetings and shows throughout the week. Beyond fashion week, I’ve also enlisted GlamSquad’s services on numerous occasions from my Birthday to a few Weddings, and even just a night out on the town. Getting professional hair and make up done can be amazing, but it can also be quite intimidating if you’re not sure exactly what you want or how to communicate it. So as a seasoned GlamSquad user, I wanted to share a few tips and tricks to make sure you get the most out of your appointment and walk away feeling fab!
1.Bring in a reference photo
Using a reference photo with your stylist ensures that you are on the same page from the beginning of the appointment. It simply gives them a better idea of the look you’re wanting to achieve. After looking it over, they can talk through any modifications that need to be made. It helps to pick a photo of someone with similar hair to your own in terms of thickness and length. Makeup is a little less rigid, but it never hurts to pick a photo of someone with similar coloring to your own. Check out these Pinterest boards for some serious hair and makeup inspo.
2. Have them use your own foundation.
This request may seem a bit high maintenance, but trust me it will make all the difference! Whether you realize it or not, you probably have a pretty specific preference on what kind of foundation you like and think looks good on your face. The Shade, a Matte or Dewy Finish, level of Coverage, all of these factors come into play. Getting it wrong can make your whole face feel off. I’ve never regretted making this request, and I promise you won’t either!
PS. I use a combo of Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in 3.5 and By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Serum Foundation in Vanilla Beige for my perfect shade.
3. Spring for the individual lashes
I love getting individual lashes done, because they add a touch of drama while still looking natural. And if you are extra careful, you can sleep in them have them last a few extra days!
4. Keep makeup in tact with setting spray
I keep this travel size setting spray from Caudalie in my purse to use throughout the day. Just mist on a few spritzes every few hours and your makeup will stay perfectly fresh all day.
5. Extend your blowout
I like to make my blowouts last as long as possible. To keep my roots looking fresh, I use dry shampoo at night before bed. Doing it at night gives it a chance to really soak up any excess oil. To keep my curls in tact, I put my hair in a very loose sleep bun secured by an alligator clip. In the morning I rake my hands through my hair and add hairspray // more dry shampoo where necessary.
