Two weeks ago I teamed up with HotelTonight for a fun pre-christmas girls trip. If you aren’t already familiar, HotelTonight is an amazing app that gets you the BEST last minute hotel deals. Since so much of my traveling is last minute, this is the perfect app for me. I’ve been using the app since 2014, and always find the coolest hotels (download the app here).
Where We Stayed
A two weeks before our trip I logged onto the HotelTonight app to check out what hotels were available in the Charleston area. The Dewberry immediately stuck out to me because of it’s amazing location (downtown, just a few blocks from King St.) and it’s interior decor. And let me tell you the pictures online do not even do it justice! It’s honestly one of my favorite hotels I’ve ever stayed in – I could have design a whole pinterest board around all of the gorgeous decor. Nearly everything we did was walking distance or a short uber ride away. They even have a curtesy car if you are staying within the downtown area. Not to go on and on, but I also want to note that the bed was insanely comfortable. Nothing makes or breaks a trip for me like a uncomfortable mattress!
Where We Ate
The Dewberry Room Service
Luccia and I started off the trip with some room service at the Dewberry. We both were starving after the flight and wanted to get a quick bite while we settled in. I highly recommend trying out their cheese board!
Prohibition
For dinner on our first night we decided to try Prohibition. Known for their inventive cocktails this quaint spot did not disappoint. My favorite drink was the Queen of Siam, a yummy Watermelon infused tequila drink. I usually am not a burger person, but the maple bacon bourbon jam topping sounded too good to resist! Luccia opted for the Gnocchi which also was amazing. The best part of the meal however was the dessert! Ps. they also have salsa dancing lessons at 8pm on Tuesdays – we were sad to miss that.
Pawpaw
For lunch on our second day we decided to hit up Pawpaw for some good other Southern Comfort food. Our favorite items were the crab dip, hush puppies, and fried chicken sandwich. PS. how cute is their china??
The Darling Oyster Bar
If you don’t like oysters you can still enjoy The Darling Oyster Bar! Their lobster roll was one of the best one’s I’ve had outside of Martha’s Vineyard, and I would definitely go back. The key lime pie was also quite delicious, and I am pretty picky since it is one of my favorite desserts.
Henrietta at the Dewberry
This adorable little french brasserie is located right in the lobby of the Dewberry. I ordered my usual eggs bennedict which was super delish, and Luccia had the crepes. We loved the atmosphere and vibe of this spot, perfect for an easy breakfast.
Félix
How freaking cute is Felix? From the gorgeous bar to the leather club chairs to the antique mirrored walls – I was in heaven in this place. Not to mention the food is really good! I went for the Shrimp po boy and Luccia had the classic Croque Madame. We spent hours in here taking photos, and the staff was so sweet to let us! Definitely a great weekend brunch spot, or a fun place for happy hour cocktails.
The Dewberry Lobby Bar ‘The Living Room’
I am obsessed with the Dewberry’s Christmas decor – how chic is the wreath over the lobby bar ‘The Living Room’? We ended spending quite a bit of time down there during happy our, working and editing photos etc. The had the cutest apple cider stand set up with gingerbread cookies that serious hit the spot after a long day of walking around.
What We Did
Shopping
Downtown Charleston is notorious for having some of the best shopping! From Uncle Kyle’s Ugly Christmas Emporium (make sure to follow his dog bear on insta-he is too cute) to the Record Stop, Luccia and I had so much fun finding hidden gems. If you are looking to do some more high end shopping I highly recommend Hampden Clothing and Gwynn’s.
Site Seeing
Rainbow Row
Since this was a quick trip we didn’t have a ton of time to site see, but we made to hit up Rainbow Row. Nothing beats seeing all of those adorable colorful houses.
Waterfront Park + Pineapple Fountain
The weather was a bit chilly, but on our second day it was perfect walking around weather. After exploring Rainbow Row, we headed over waterfront park to see the famous Pineapple Fountain and then posted up on a park bench to enjoy the view.
