The Christmas season is in full swing, and for me that means lots and lots of parties! Today, I have teamed up with Target Beauty Concierge to share some of my favorite products I use on my hair, eyes, and lips to create some festive holiday looks.
Most people think that beach waves are only for the summertime, but I beg to differ. There is nothing I love more than the juxtaposition of a sequined dress with undone, messy curls.
- To start, I usually like to use this Beach Babe salt spray, and then let my hair air-dry. It really helps enhance any natural wave or body your hair has, and it also provides some grip to keep curls in place.
- Ideally, I like second-day hair as it tends to hold curls better, but that can easily be faked by spraying dry shampoo along your part and around the crown of your head. If you have fine hair like me, this can add the texture and volume you desperately need.
- Lately, I have been using the Beach Waver Curling Iron to achieve that undone look. I like curl the majority of hair away from my face, adding a few pieces curled toward my face for extra depth (about every third piece).
- I always finish off any hairstyle with my favorite L’Oréal Elnett hair spray. It is not sticky or crunchy at all, and it doesn’t weigh my hair I basically refuse to use anything else!
I really don’t think you can go wrong with a smoky-eye look for a holiday party. One of my favorite palettes to use is this Shimmering Neutrals one from Sonia Kashuk. I feel like people usually think about using more silvers for the holidays, but I prefer to use more golds. With my fair complexion, the warmer tones are a lot more flattering. It is always tempting to recreate some cool look you saw on Pinterest, but keep in mind whether you have similar coloring as the model. You can always tweak it so it makes you look your best.
The holiday-party circuit can really be a beating, and toward the end I start to get a little burned out. My number one trick without fail when I’m feeling less than festive is to add a dark, dramatic lip. It automatically makes you look chic, sophisticated, and like you made way more of an effort than you actually did.
