This Sunday’s Church service looked a little different – we watched from bed in our PJ’s via The Church at Junius Heights’ Facebook Live Page (which will still managed to “show up to” 5 minutes late, if you know us personally you’ll laugh, or roll your eyes haha). But despite the fact that we couldn’t be physically there to hear the service or worship together in person, for that hour we felt connected to our community again. Pastor Travis noted that “Even though we are scattered, we are gathered.” In this time of isolation, I found that to be so powerful. There is nothing that the enemy would love more than for us to lose sight of that. And this week, unfortunately Christian and I played right into his hand. But tuning into Church was the first step to getting us back on track. Pastor Travis’s message really hit home with us, and if these crazy times having you feeling unsettled I would encourage you to take the time to watch here.
Our biggest takeaway was that we needed a huge attitude adjustment. The first week of quarantine was a little rough for us, I won’t lie. We both let our anxieties cloud our minds, and we took our frustrations out on each other. But after hearing the sermon, something clicked for both of us. We took an 8 mile walk after (don’t worry we stayed 6 ft away from anyone else), and had one of the best talks of our marriage. Moving forward, we both made a commitment to make the most of this alone time together. When we thought about it, it’s an amazing gift that God has given us. So I’m starting this Monday with a renewed since of hope, and excitement to see what lessons God has in store for us this week.
I’ll leave y’all with these verses:
“Therefor we do not give up. Even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day. For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. So we do not focus on what is seem, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
– 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
