A Midweek Retreat at Amara Cay Resort
I know, I know. I’ve been living in Miami for almost two years and I’m just now visiting the Florida Keys. This past week I had the pleasure of being hosted at the newly renovated Amara Cay Resort in Islamorada, Fl. From the gorgeous decor (upscale beachy, not the usual kitsch) to the super friendly staff, this hotel was the perfect little getaway only an hour and forty minutes outside of Miami.
Day One
Francesca and I headed down Monday (after getting our spray tans of course) and arrived in the early afternoon. We took a quick tour around the property to get the lay of the land which includes most notably a fire pit, pool, tiki bar, and gym. Fran and I were tired from the drive and decided to stay on site for dinner at ReelBurger – which included some pretty bomb bbq sliders and zucchini fries. We called it an early night and turned in early with some wine to watch Khloe finally reveal her pregnancy on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I know we are pretty cool haha.
Day Two
The next day we headed down for breakfast in the lobby, and then straight out to the beach area for some sun. Fran’s sister Luccia arrived from Miami around lunch so we headed up for some poolside cocktails and lunch from Sparrows Rum Bar. After a long day in the sun we headed back to the room for a quick tiger snooze, then headed down the street to Lazy Days for dinner. The restaurant had a chill local vibe and I really enjoyed my Key West Chicken!
Day Three
For our last day we got up early to catch the sunrise on the beach which was so pretty. And just like that it was time to pack up and hit the road. But not before stopping by Midway Cafe & Coffee Bar for breakfast and one last slice of Manny & Isa’s famous Key Lime Pie. PS. the staff was SO friendly and I will definitely be going back on my next trip.
