When I heard that Makenzie and Clark’s wedding was going to be in Santa Fe, NM I was beyond excited. You guys may remember that my Aunt and Uncle own a B&B in Taos, NM which we stayed at a couple of Christamases ago. I completely fell in love with New Mexico on that trip, so I was thrilled to head back and explore a new city. Makenzie, Clark, and their families were such gracious hosts it made my first Santa Fe experience truly wonderful. If you are thinking about having a destination wedding, I would definitely recommend looking into Santa Fe. I know that our whole group just had the best time.
Where We Stayed
La Posada De Santa Fe
Our home base for the weekend was the La Posada. It was one of the prettiest properties I’ve ever stayed at. The staff was beyond friendly and there was so much to see and do within in walking distance which was really nice.
Where We Ate
The Shed
As soon as we arrived in Santa Fe we immediately headed to the Shed to meet the crew for some live music and margaritas.
Chez Mamou French Cafe & Bakery
This quaint french spot was just down the way from our hotel and I ended up going twice! The ham and eggs crepes were so good I just couldn’t help myself.
The Compound
Makenzie’s Bridal Luncheon was hosted at The Compound. We had a gorgeous private table on the outdoor patio, perfect for celebrating the bride. PS. the Snitzel is to die for!
Penthouse El Dorado Hotel
The Rehersal Dinner was hosted by Clark’s parents in the gorgeous Penthouse Suite at the El Dorado Hotel. The views of the city were incredible – I think I took a million photos up there haha.
La Posada Patio Restaurant
The day of the wedding I needed something quick and easy for breakfast before heading over to the bridal suite to get ready with the girls. So I met my mom on the hotel patio for breakfast burritos 🙂
The French Pastry Shop and Creperie
While we were walking around exploring on Sunday, we stumbled across this little French Pastry Shop. A plain crepe with sugar is my weakness, so I snagged one to go as a last treat before heading to the airport.
What We Did
We didn’t have a ton of down time with all of the wedding activities and what not but a few of us made a point to hit the ground running on sunday and explore as much as we could.
Loretto Chapel – The Mysterious Staircase
We honestly happened upon the Loretto Chapel by accident while shopping downtown. Once inside we discovered the story of the mysterious staircase and were blown away. If you are at all into architecture this is definitely worth a stop. See the full story here.
Shopping
Senior Murphy Candymaker
We received some Senior Murphy Green Chile Popcorn in our welcome bags, and it was so good we had to hunt down more before we left! I even ordered some more online recently for Christian’s Birthday.
Oleaceae
This was the coolest little olive oil and balsamic vinegar shop and if I had any room in my suitcase I would have been in big trouble haha. They had a ton of different varieties and they were all available to sample. It was the coolest concept – there is photo below to see what I mean.
Cathedral Park
After touring the Loretto Chapel we walked out the Cathedral Park to an open air market of sorts. Christian and I bought a few souvenirs for his nieces and nephews while my friend Adrienne picked up a piece of art to remember the trip.
